Whats Up Wednesday!

It feels like a ton has happened since last week! Where to start....Ok so yesterday we celebrated my baby girls 2nd B-Day!

She is still small enough to bathe in the kitchen sink! Love that!

I had a chance to frame one of the make n take projects from Leadership! It looks so cute on my display shelf & inspires me to go after my dreams. Leadership was such a fabulous experience! I was so blessed to have been able to go. The absolute highlight for me was spending time with an amazing friend & really realizing what Stampin Up is all about! Yes the products are super fabulous but its really all about relationships. The products are just a way to build , strengthen, & nurture those relationships that are so dear to us. Putting a smile on the face of those we love is such a priceless gift. Like smiles, stamping transcends gender, age, occupation, education, & social status. It gives us a chance to just have fun, create, connect & build friendship with each other! It was an amazing thing to realize that if it had not been for my love of stamping I would not have met a group of women that I cherish so dearly. I am blessed to call them my friends! Every time we get together face to face or in cyberspace I really appreciate the fact that they are choosing to spend time with me & letting me share a bit of what I love with them!

One of my goals in 2012 is to share more of what I love with others by offering the amazing opportunity of becoming a Stampin Up Demonstrator to as many as I can & having more home parties so others can have an opportunity to get together with friends & just have FUN! I think we can all use a bit more FUN in our lives! Ok on that note I have got to go get ready for the FUN I get to have tomorrow at my SALE-A-BRATION KICK OFF PARTY! Hope you can make it!

I am so glad to be home! Yesterday was a crazy day! The total highlight though was when my friend Lynda talked me in to going over to meet Shelli! Which would have been fun but it turned in to an incredible experience when Shelli recognized my name & said "Mercedes Weber, You are like the queen of punches right?". She said she remembered picking me as a challenge winner on her blog! OMGOSH! OMGOSH! OMGOSH! Are you serious did Shelli Gardner just say that she knew who I was?!!! So needless to say by now I am completely blushing & smiling like I'm in a toothpaste commercial so I might look silly in the pictures we got to take with her but it was such an honor to meet her. I will upload the pictures when I get them from Lynda.

Ok now how about a little eye candy!

Heart Sachet

I love the new heart framelits! I was so excited when I ran our beautiful fabric through & it cut perfectly! My sweetie was so super amazing & sewed these lovely gifts for a couple of friends I met up with here in San Antonio. Today was a big day of SU announcements! One of my favorites is a new diagonal score insert for our lovely Simply Scored! Woo Hoo!
Plus today we got a TON of FREE PRODUCTS!!! I'll be back tomorrow with more updates!

I also wanted to say a big Hi & Thank You to those of you that have been so sweet to come up to me & let me know that you read my blog! It is so exciting to know that people enjoy my projects as much as I enjoy creating them! Big Hugs!

Hello from SAN ANTONIO! It's been a crazy day & I am so glad me & my friend Lynda made it here! I am running on like 1 hour of sleep. We had our Make n Take session & we got some fun new stuff to play with. I can't wait to show you some of the card ideas I have for an up coming class but for now I have one of the swap cards I made for Leadership. This card features the new Sale a Bration DSP & matching stamp set! I went with a color combo thats very different than my usual style but I'm really lovin it! Anyway I am super tired but I hope to be back tomorrow to update you more on whats going on here. ;)

Whats Up Wednesday!

Well it's now offically one week before Leadership! Next Wednesday I will be up before dawn to head off to San Antonio! I can't beleive it has come so fast. I am so extremely grateful to be going with my dear friend Lynda! Anyway lets talk about what's been going on this week. Today I got to have lunch with my sweetie, which is very rare, & I took my kids to their favorite park. =)
This week (meaning Wednesday to Wednesday) seems to have passed by at warp speed! I finished up my U Stamp tutorials, went shopping for a few home improvement items (really looking forward to getting those done), still wiping runny noses, wish I had got some swaps done for Leadership but just didn't make any great accomplishments in that area, also wish I had gotten more organizing done but that didn't happen too much either.

Reading Mathew 7 & getting some deep revelation on some things, actually feels more like open heart surgery. I may share more about that later. Thanks for stopping by!

My computer has WAY too much stuff on it so I have been deleting a lot of stuff & I found a few cards that I photographed but never uploaded so I thought I'd share them over the next couple days!
I made this card for Paper Crafts Stampin Royalty contest last year (I think??). The picture isn't the greatest as I am sure I was rushing it out the door to the post office at the last minute because as my hubby would say "That's how I roll!". Thanks for stopping by today! For 2012 I thought it would be fun to start a weekly post titled "Whats Up Wednesdays" so I could kind of keep a record of things that are going on in my life. So here we go...
Today I am taking care of 2 sick kids & working on swaps. On Christmas Eve my hubby & I had a talk about finding a better balance & organizing my crafting life. I have to admit for the last few months things have been quite out of hand around here. My office & some other rooms looked like an episode of horders. I have been making cards on my office floor for the last couple months because my desk was so cluttered I couldn't find any space to work. So I made a decision that I just was not going to live like that anymore. It really was making me miserable so for the last few days I have spent cleaning up. I am very happy to say that I made a ton of progress! I started in my girls room, then the dining room where I have my classes, & on to my office. I have been working in there for 7 days so that should give you some idea of how bad it was. It's still not done but I actually made over 50 swaps cards at my desk this week! Maybe I'll share a photo once its done.

Today my second daughter turned 7! It was a great day! But this year she has been asking for a pony for her birthday....hmmm I think this card is the only pony she will be getting for her birthday.

Hello Friends!
Sorry I've been MIA, it's super busy around here! Yesterday we celebrated my 3rd daughters 6th birthday & now its the countdown to Christmas & my other daughter will turn 7 a few days after that! Then its all about getting ready for my trip to Leadership (Woo Hoo!) & my youngest daughter will be turning 2!! Anyway I have been working on Christmas cards like crazy! I wanted to share one of my favorites. Its simple but it so nice in person! That silver glitter paper is just amazing!!

On another note though SU just announced this adorable stocking punch will NOT be carried over to the next catalog & is only available while supplies last! EEK!!! I know it's not even Christmas yet but when I was planning projects for my downline meeting I figured we have already held all the Christmas classes we are going to have so the next thing to think about is Valentines Day!

This is another sneak peek of products that will be available in January 2012. I used a pretty card from the mini catalog as inspiration & I love how this came together!

We made this beautiful card using the SAB paper, brads, & stamp set plus the brand new flower punch, & edgelits with the matching embossing folder! I am busy preparing for tonight's Customer Appreciation Party! I'm seriously re-considering this sewing thing...cleaning up all that mess plus my normal paper crafting choas is really quite challenging! Where am I gonna put all this stuff?!?! Anyway I just completed the project we are making tonight so thought I'd share really quick.

I know everyone is busy this time of year so I kept our project super quick & easy! I have already covered all the boxes so all they have to do is the flower, the sentiment, & a quick sprinkle of glitter! Ok gotta get back to the mess...

Had to quickly share today's success!

After todays bath she let me put the top on AND it fit!! Again I have no idea what I'm doing so I pretty much was winging it with this. I am sure this not the proper way to make this dress but it I think it worked! I started by measuring her around her tummy & chest. Then I measured to see how long I needed the top to be & I measured around her shoulder for strap length. I cut 2 long strips of fabric, one for the top & one for the ruffled bottom. The bottom one I cut about 12 x 26 to allow for gathering. Top was about 4 x 22. I sewed a gathering stitch across the bottom one, then stitched the two short ends together to make a tube, then gathered it to fit the top piece. I sewed the top one the same minus the gathering stitch. Then I sewed the top & the bottom together matching up the seams of course. So this is basically like a tube top I guess. Last I added the straps & embelishments. I had the seamed edges run along one side under her arm so they aren't that noticeable. I paired it with a white long sleeve onsie, brown leggings, matching hair pretties & she looks SOOO cute! Getting her to stay still to take a picture was just not happening. She was actually jumping on the bed in this photo!

Big Shot Purse!

If you have been reading my blog you will know my hubby (a.k.a. My Hero) taught me how to sew a couple weeks ago & I have been working really hard to get it down. It's been fun & frustrating at the same time. My goal is to feel comfortable & confident with simple sewing projects but I think it's gonna be awhile! I'm shooting for by next Christmas....I hope! Anyway my card making time has turned in to my practice sewing time so I don't have a card to share but I do have this cute little purse! We had a handmade gift exchange at our last demo meeting & I was determined to make something with my sewing machine & my favorite SU fabric! I even made it from my own pattern so I was quite happy with how it turned out! It got a little hairy there for a minute but it all came together in the end. My sweet friend Lynda won this & I really hope she likes it, flaws & all. LOL! Since I made this purse my girls have been begging me to make them one too. So far my sewing adventure has been:
1. Making a dress for the baby, that she won't even try on. She cries every time I even show it to her. Its not that bad geesh.
2. Attempting a fleece jumper for baby. FAIL!
3. Making 3 of those cute Spice Cake drawstring bags!
4. Making my 5 year old a "sleeping bag" for her doggies. My girls like little doggies instead of dolls. They carry these things everywhere! They are similar to the size of beanie babies & they have a ton of them, all different breeds. Anyway on to #5
5. Made my 17 year old a fleece beanie. Actually made 2 because the first one she said was too short. Her sisters were glad to take it off her hands.
6. Made proto type handbag. Cute but didn't love it. My 5 year old claimed it for a dog purse.
7. Made little black purse shown above. Pretty Cute!
8. Made 6 year old her own handbag, mixing some elements from the first proto type, little black purse pattern, & her special request of extra long straps so it could go over her head. She loved it & so did I!
9. Made a top for baby out of this adorable corduroy print. Again she refuses to try it on. Hubby says it just bad timing. So I will try after tomorrows bath. If I get it on I'll try to snap a picture to share with you.

Apothecary Art Keepsake Box

The products in the upcoming mini catalog are just stunning! It is torture waiting for my goodies to arrive! I love the fact that so many of the new sets are available as MDS digital downloads! Woo Hoo Instant Gratification! I'm sure you are going to love the new mini as much as I do. I hope to have more time to play but my to do list is crazy right now! I'm sure you can relate. EDIT: I have had some requests for instructions so here they are!

Supplies- Beau Chateau DSP, Apothecary Art Stamp Set or MDS, Crumb Cake Seam Binding, Antique Brads, Soft Suede & Basic Gray Ink, Pretty in Pink, Regal Rose, Pear Pizzaz, Daffodil Delight, & Old Olive Markers, Pearls, Dimensionals, Sticky Strip, Tombo Multi Glue, 4" Paper Mache Box

You will need to cut:
1 circle (cut with Clear Circle die)
1 12 x 1 3/4 DSP
2 6 1/2 x 1/2 DSP

Step One: Stamp image in Basic Gray, color & cut out. Sponge with Soft Suede. Add pearls.

Step Two: Attach large DSP strip around the bottom of the box with Sticky Strip. You will need the 2 little strips to fit around the lid since it measures more then 12". Attach the circle with the Tombo glue. Sponge all egdes with Soft Suede.

Step Three: Make the bow with 4 loops & open the brad legs to wrap around the center of your bow to secure. Cut a small piece of ribbon, fold in to a v shape & tape to the back of your image toward the bottom. Attach the image with dimensionals. Use hot glue to put on the bow.

Mmmm Spice Cake!

So here is the little bag I have been working on.

I kept the embellishments very simple. I cut the fabric flowers with the Fun Flowers die. I used a bit of fabric stiffener on them so they would hold a bit of a shabby shape. This will be perfect for filling with homemade goodies or any small gift really. To make this bag I started with 3 pieces of the Spice Cake fabric 1- 12x5 & 2- 5x3. I may make some a bit bigger for Christmas to give sets of cards to my family. If I have any requests I can do a tutorial or you can check youtube.

Thought I'd pop in & take a quick break from the holiday themed stuff & share a baby card I made the other day. I love this little ducky image!

Also wanted to let you know I have finally learned how to use my sewing machine!! Thanks to my hubby! I love you sweetie! It was one of my birthday year resolutions. Yes I know I need another hobby like I need more dsp. On my b day hubby took me down to sign up for a sewing class which took place last weekend & crazily my back was out so I couldn't go but my sweetheart went in my place! My HERO! He was the best student I'm sure & made a fabulous arm chair caddy to hold remotes & such. Not sure where to put it though since he chose Marvel Super Hero fabric LOL! Anyway when I was feeling better her taught me how to sew! Next on my list was to make a dress for my youngest daughter. Finished it today but she refuses to even try it on! My two older girls are more then willing to take it though. Its a cute shirt on them! Now on to project #3 which is a cute little drawstring bag made from Spice Cake fabric! O MY how I adore everything Spice Cake! The colors & patterns are just SOOO yummy! Hopefully I can photograph them & share tomorrow.

Its been a bumpy road but all 5 samples are done! I had to change 2 of the cards since one used my cricut & I can't for the life of me find the cords (that's why the Big Shot Rocks!) & for two I designed a card that uses the same stamp so I had to pick between the two cards. Anyway I am very happy with what I ended up with but I'd love to hear what you think!

I saw a beautiful card by Jen Sannes & I had to case it for the next Stamp a Stack. I have been playing with the idea of adding glitter to my embossing powders! For this card I put a scoop of silver glitter in with a scoop of silver embossing powder & it looks SO pretty IRL!

I love the adhesive sheets!! They made adding gems & glitter to this cute Christmas tree so easy! I used the new Stocking Accents die to cut the tree.

Wonderful Weekend

We spent the weekend at the Mt Shasta Resort. Our chalet was over looking Lake Siskiyou. It was absolutely wonderful! Thought I'd share a few pictures.

They even have a spa on site that offered services for kids! Oh my gosh my girls were giddy getting their first mani-pedi. It was adorable! I received a wonderful swap card made by Barb Faulkner & I loved her idea of making a card from the stocking die! Had to break open the adorable new felt accents & this was a perfect place to use one. This was my project for my last downline get together.

Recycled Butterfly!

I am kicking myself right now for throwing out my daily Starbucks cup sleeves! I am sure most of you have seen the adorable corrugated cardboard embellies you can purchase here & there. Anyway today I was about to throw out my Starbucks cup & the kids had pulled the sleeve off & inside I saw the cutest corrugated cardboard! So off to my beloved Big Shot I went...

Now I am sure lots of other wonderful crafty gals have already had this idea but this is a first for me so humor me, ok? LOL! I have thought about using the boxes my SU products come in but then the embellishments are so bulky, which is ok if your not mailing the card. Anyway this works great for me since the sleeves are so thin plus the corrugated lines are a lot smaller. So Cute! Gotta Love Free Embellishments! Hope you give this a try if you haven't already & I'd love to see what you've done with your recycled embellies! The Holiday mini is full of amazing project samples! I loved the card they made with the new Stitched Stockings set & I just had to case it! I made a couple little changes but I think it came out great! I embossed the sentiment with silver & added some of the new Silver Glitter Paper (OMGosh That stuff Rocks!). I have to share with you the sweetest thing I saw at convention...

My babies! It was cool to see my artisan award entries on the display boards! I might have scared the lady next me when I squeeled with excitement. Seeing my cards was nice but seeing my kids up there, it made my heart smile to see them. Especially since I miss them like crazy! So in the top photo is my 6 year old & 18 month old and in the bottom photo, the butterfly page, is my 5 & 6 year old. Anyway back to some other things you will think are sweet...

The black shadowbox clock in the second photo was one of the items I entered also! It was so hard to part with it so it was nice to see it again. Anyway I will share more once I get back home.

So Many Swaps So Little Time!

As soon as I saw the Kindness Matters set in the new catalog I knew I had to have it asap! I am a sucker for beautiful butterfly stamps. I paired that with my new favorite dsp Beau Chateau. So pretty!

I got my box of new goodies yesterday! The Berry Blossoms DSP is adorable! Love the new stripe embossing folder too. I added some white gel pen details to really tie it all together. I think they came out super cute! These will be a couple of my swaps for convention. My goal was to do 100 cards, 25 of 4 different designs, but making a bunch of one card is not exactly my cup of tea so we will see how that goes. OMGosh I can't beleive I have been away so long!! I have thought about blogging alot but its been one thing or another keeping me from getting to it but alas I decided today I was going to make time to share something with my cyber friends. So with out further ado...

Since this was first post featuring new catty goodies I wanted to use lots of them! I used 2 of the fabulous new In Colors, Pool Party & Calypso Coral. Also new scallop ribbon, border punch, pennant/doily die, & the My Friend stamp set. All Totally Yummy! I was inspired by the new Berry DSP. Loved the punch art strawberry idea I saw on SCS. Don't know who the original creator was but its So cute! I don't have the heart die they have been using so I just used the heart punch & polka dot embossing folder. Made the little one with the small heart & boho flower punches. I made a bunch of the big strawberries for my convention swaps! SO EXCITED to be going this year!

And just in case you haven't already seen this...

Oh my the catalog is absolutely gorgeous & its crammed with so many must haves & amazing eye candy! Well friends thats all for now. I gotta get back to making those swaps!

Ok when my hubby showed me that new TLC show Extreme Couponing show I was like "WHAT?! How do they do that?". Also my mom had actually been telling me that a friend of hers started doing this & was getting some great deals. So I decided to give it a try. Since they don't double coupons in my state I have no expectation of getting $800 worth of groceries for $10.00 nor do I have space to store that much stuff so I'm really just doing what I can realistically. At Walgreens I get a 15% off family discount & the TP, Games, & Paper Towels were on clearance. The trick is pairing up your coupons with the stores sale prices. I think the best deal I got was the razor refills at Rite Aid. They were $8.49ea but Rite Aid had them BOGO free & I had 2 $3 off coupons! So even though 1 was free I was still buying 2 so I could use 2 coupons! Woo Hoo! Anyway enough about that for now...I do have a card to share!

Napa Valley Beauty

We had so much fun yesterday! We took the little princesses to Castello Di Amorosa, a beautiful tuscan style medieval castle winery in Calistoga. It was our first time visiting a winery & actually we just went to see the castle. Hubby & I haven't really drank wine before. It was a nice experience to sample the different wines. It is probably an aquired taste but did they have some sweet wines that we enjoyed very much. Anyway here are a couple pictures from our day.

I am looking forward to going back & taking the guided tour so we can see more of the castle. Anyway thanks for poppin by. Hope you're having a great weekend!

I saw this beautiful card on Julie Buhler's blog & just had to case it. I changed it up a little since I wanted to use the new Fabulous Florets set & the triple layer punch. I made it in 2 color combos. The first is the same as Julie's with the addition of Pear Pizzaz. The second is Baja Breeze & the leaf is a stamp off of Always Artichoke. I went through a few greens before I found one that looked good with the green dsp. We made the first one at the Stamp n Chat.

Catty Case Fun!

Its been a crazy couple of weeks! First off a couple weeks ago I had the wild idea of entering Stampin Up's Artisan contest but I thought the entries were due at the end of the month but they were actually due today! I can't believe that I actually finished all my entries & they were delivered 2 days ago! This was by far creatively the hardest thing I have ever done. One of my 3-D items about brought me to tears a few times. Anyway enough about that. I had two fun nights in a row! I had my wonderful Technique Tuesday group join me & we made paper flowers. Then the next day I got to get together with some of my downline & we had a catty case night! Here are a couple of the cards we created!

I cased this card from the last page of the new summer mini. I added my own touches & loved SU's idea of creating a different style of butterfly with the Strength & Hope set.

This card came out super cute & was made by my brand new downline! So much fun!

Bunny in a Basket!

I thought this came out so adorable! I used the petal cone die & the wide oval punch to make the basket! The bunny is made the same as the brown one but obviously she is white. I used pretty in pink for her nose & ears & she is sponged with going gray. See previous posts for video tutorials.

Oh my gosh I can't beleive I went almost 3 weeks with out stamping! Big HUGS to my friend Kris that asked if I was ok since she noticed I have been MIA for so long. :) I wasn't sure how things would go when I finally did have a chance to play with my toys again. I wanted to start off slow but before I made this card I actually had to make my entries for Paper Crafts Stamping Royalty Contest! It all came together quite nicely & by the grace of God I made it to the post office 2 minutes before they closed. Entries had to be postmarked by 3/24. You would think I would learn my lesson & stop waiting until the very last minute but as my hubby says I do my best work under pressure. I guess we shall see. Anyway this card was inspired by a beautiful card I saw by Ann Schach & uses a brand new set called Strength & Hope that will be available in the upcoming mini catalog. I will be using this beautiful stamp set for my Customer Stamp n' Chat on April 1st. Now I've got to go make breakfast for the little people. Thanks for stopping by!

Vacation!

Our cruise was great! We went to Cabo San Lucas & Puerto Vallarta. It was nice to relax & have some time with my hubby. He works ALOT so it was amazing to have him all to myself for 10 days. The girls had a great time. I think their favorite part was swimming with the dolphins in Puerto Vallarta! I didn't know dolphins were so big! They can weigh up to 1,000 pounds! It was really amazing to see them up close. They are truly beautiful! I have a ton of unpacking & cleaning to do so I don't have time to play in my stamp room but I am sooo looking forward to it! I really love my Technique Tuesday gals & am honored that they spend an evening stamping with me every month. Its always much needed "adult time" for me. Anyway these were the 2 cards we did last night! Our technique was watercoloring so I showed them how to watercolor with markers & with watercolor crayons. Their cards came out absolutely beautiful! Petal Cone Birthday Hat!

In honor of my youngest daughters 1st birthday! I can't beleive how fast time flies. She is running around here with the big girls now. Its super adorable since she is so tiny & toddling all over the place. She is also a non stop talker. She just jabbers along in her little baby language & looks at us like we know what she is saying. LOL! Anyway here is my creation...

I used the timeless type die to make the 1. Just punched out a circle & layed it over the 1 then die cut. I masked the Thanks stamp from the SAB set So Happy For You & stamped the "S & T". Then used the "Birthday" from the Birthday Wishes sentiment. Didn't even use the Stamp a Majig & it came out pretty good! I made the fringe from colored tissue paper. Thanks for stopping by today! I wanted to make some little fancy treats for tonight's demo stamp n chat. I saw a cute idea on Angela Timms blog to use this cute angel image for a Valentine project so I started there. I got the Table setting die a couple months ago & I haven't used it yet so I thought I would see what I could do with that. I used 2 of the small tag cut outs to make these. I just scored the straight end 1" & attached them together. These fit a hershey nugget perfectly! Hope the gals like them!

I am SUPER excited about my new cupcake punch creation! I was going to wait until the video was done to show you but I just couldn't wait. Soooo here it is!

I love it! Who knew you could get some many adorable things from a cupcake punch! I will be making this in my next video so come back for that this weekend.

Have I Lost My Mind?

Its almost 3 am & I have been working on this card for almost 2 hours! Making tiny golden tassels, paper latterns, taking photos, omgosh. If you find my marbles please return them....

I just couldn't help myself. Hubby brought me home this beautiful Washi paper the other day & I was enabled by the FS challenge on SCS. I chose this card . I had wanted to make something for Shelli's blog contest also & since i'm cutting it down to the wire I figured what the heck who needs sleep! Anyway back to the card. I mounted the Washi paper to Whisper White because it was too thin to punch. Then I punched the large oval & 2 key tags & ran them through the crimper. A stampin friend Lois had made tassels for a Stamp n Chat project awhile back so I thought I would give it a try. Found a how to video on YouTube. If you search just be warned you may find some instructions for umm...upperbody tassels. Just keep scrolling down. LOL! Its very easy to do once you see it. Well friends its now after 3am & I have to go to bed now or I will not be a happy camper tomorrow. Thanks for stopping by!

More Clouds

Made this for a couple challenges over on SCS. One challenge was to use rainbows & the other was to use a warm color & something fuzzy. I painted the rainbow on watercolor paper & I added some flock to the clouds to make them fuzzy!
